I would debate the credentials of this source.
Nevertheless mammography remains controversial - nothing provides all the answers. Despite all the research it has been difficult to prove it saves lives with a high degree of confidence. Partly because the technology keeps changing, partly because it is only one tool in the diagnostic cabinet, and partly because so many different things happen afterwards.
What we do know is that it finds small and difficult to detect cancers, so that less invasive treatments can be used (for instance removing a lump rather than mastectomy).
This link came to me from stopcancer.org. Liz Armstrong, one of my editorial team members is an active member of this website. I'm pretty sure that any links that get posted have been throughly screened.
Always good to question just the same.
