The Breast Views Blog: Do Breast Exams Flunk?

Here's one of two paragraphs that stood out for me in this story.

"The Cancer Society and others have lead women to believe mammography results in early diagnosis. This is a lie. It takes eight years before a lump is large enough to detect which provides time for cancer cells to spread to other areas. This is not early diagnosis. One critic said it well, "Finding a cancer this way is damage control, not prevention"."

The Breast Views Blog: Is Breast Cancer Awareness a Marketing Sham?

This feature story opens with a very interesting question.

"After 24 years of shocking pink ribbons, it has become impossible not to be aware of breast cancer. But does all that thinking pink really contribute to "The Cure," or is it actually designed to keep us from seeing red?"

The Breast Views Blog: Censoring a cancer victim's breasts

I've recently been given a subscription to Salon.com. The following story appears in today's Broadsheet section.

I'm not sure if non-Salon subscribers will be able to click through on this link - perhaps someone will be kind enough to let me know.

This story speaks to the reality that even though our breasts can be sexual, they are also functional. But as we know, when we "reveal a nipple, all hell breaks loose."Censoring a cancer victim's breasts.

The Breast Views Blog: Banking on Breast Milk

There's more to banking than high user fees and hard cold cash.

According to this story, "ten nonprofit milk banks that match donors to those searching for milk are accredited members of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America."

The Breast Views Blog: Dense Breasts

It doesn't matter if your breasts are big or small - but it does matter how dense your boobs are.

I know that this sounds like a bad joke. In fact researchers have determined that breast density is yet another risk factor for women and their doctors to consider when it comes to breast cancer. The Breast Views Blog: Mother's Milk: study

Given that breast feeding has been around since the beginning of time - and baby formula is the 'new' invention - you'd think that our culture would know everything about breast feeding and squat about formula.

Seems the opposite is true. Click the link below for the story.
