I had dinner with my neighbours on Saturday and enjoyed my first encounter of length with the latest edition to their family.

Magali is a breast user. This photo does not catch her in action, but I can confirm, she's a natural.

The Breast Views Blog: The Cancer Blog

I'm shameless.

This Blog has graciously given Breast of Canada a BIG Blog boost.

This kind of publicity is sort of like cheerleading, but without the pom poms.

The Breast Views Blog: Carnival of Feminists

It can safely be said that I love a carnival. Not the rides. They tend to make me puke. Instead I like the diversity that fits under the heading of Carnival and the clear divisions of what does not.

Carnivals on the Blogosphere are very similar to the flesh and blood experience. Usually titled under a specific heading, a Carnival features blog postings from a range of bloggers who identify in some way with the theme.

I'm pleased to be included in this weeks Carnival of Feminists with My Menopause Blog post: Eggs. As an egg producer of the reproductive variety my post explains how I preferred my monthly eggs to be; 'unhatched or scrambled'.

You'll have to scroll down a ways to find me. But there's plenty of stuff to read on the way. Mind the Gap!.

The Breast Views Blog: Beautiful Woman Project

Body casting is a very clever way of dispensing with body image myths. You think you're huge. Your cast proves otherwise.

At an earlier point in my life, I had a wee body casting business that specifically catered to pregnant women. The cast, stretching from neck to pelvis offered a permanent keepsake of a moment in time that many women recall fondly.

The Beautiful Woman Project is a variation of the same theme, designed to show the diversity of body shapes and sizes out there.

Not everyone is sized 6.

The Breast Views Blog: BJ & THE BOOBETTES listen to JACK FM!

This email arrived from a very excited Boobette this afternoon.

"We are a team of 8 women from BC led by team captain Brenda Jeklin (aka BJ), who are doing the Weekend to End Breast Cancer in Vancouver this August, and we've entered a radio contest to "Show the World We Listen to 96.9 Jack FM." The top prize is $25,000, which we will donate to the Weekend to End Breast Cancer if we win."

I don't know Jack. But I think he would find the Boobettes to be quite charming. See for yourself.

The Breast Views Blog: Vagina

Toronto the Good is being precious.

Eve Ensler, creator of The Vagina Monologues has come up with a sizzling followup production called The Good Body, set to open in Toronto very soon. Let me mention that VM had a six month sold out run in the fair city and across the country.

So you'd think that the media would be all over the new production.

According to the petition, dutifully linked below: "Yet, some Toronto media organizations are refusing to advertise or even mention that this highly anticipated play– THE GOOD BODY - is coming to Toronto. Why? Sadly, they don’t want to say the word “vagina” on the air. As in ... from the creator of The Vagina Monologues comes a new and exciting play, The Good Body..."

Right then.

I've signed.

The Breast Views Blog: Breast Watch

I feel like I hit the jackpot with this site. Breast Watch, a girls guide to breasts and breast cancer offers answers to questions that girls really do wonder about. Direct your daughters to this site if they've ever asked:
  • How do boobs develop in a young girl?
  • How long does it usually take for your boobs to fully develop?
  • Why do teens worry so much about their boobs and body image?
  • Why are guys such jerks about boobs and what do they really think about a the size of a girl's boobs?
  • My boobs are small - is there any way I can make them bigger or grow faster without surgery?
  • Do I need to wear a bra?
  • Is there any health reason against going braless?
  • But what about bras and breast cancer?
  • Does wearing a bra increase your risk of getting breast cancer?
  • Can teens get breast cancer?
  • Should I be examining my boobs for lumps?

The Breast Views Blog: Betty Friedan

It would have been 1983. Me fresh back to University after an 8 month backpacking trip to Europe. Worldly, free wheeling and pissed off from all the male grief I endured on my trip, I signed up for a Women's Studies course.

The reading list included: The Feminine Mystique, published 20 years earlier.

The author of that eye prying open book died on Saturday.

Feminist Giant Betty Friedan Dies at 85

Betty Friedan, author of the groundbreaking book (The Feminine Mystique) that helped launch the contemporary women's movement, died today at the age of 85. “Not only did her book define the problem of the lesser status of women, but she also had the courage to launch a movement and an organization, the National Organization for Women, to change that status forever,” said Eleanor Smeal, president of the Feminist Majority Foundation and a former president of the National Organization for Women.

On the left hand side is my bread and hopefully butter. Yes they are ads. If I was going to continue down this blogging path, it simply had to be done.

So please have a visit. Add me to your blog roll. Share the link with your menopausal friends, wife or mother. And even if you're not interested in menopause, tell me what you think of the new skin.

The Breast Views Blog: Rethink Breast Cancer

ReThink Breast Cancer is a foundation that has branded itself as a hip happening organization. They are refreshingly clever and creative.

I was surfing around their site this morning and found this concise explanations on Breast Cancer Risk Factors.

"The most proven and significant risk factors are being female and getting older."

The Breast Views Blog: Plant-Based Hormone Therapy

As a peri-menopausal woman, this story interests me. Currently I'm awaiting the arrival of a Saliva Home Test Kit so that I can find out just where my hormone levels are at. Then I'm going to look into Plant-Based Hormone Therapy otherwise known as Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement.

I will be posting my findings on my other blog over the next few weeks.
